Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, some people have been spreading unscientific anti-vaccine claims. Vaccines help protect people from harmful diseases. All vaccines authorized by the European Commission after an evaluation by the European Medicines Agency will appear on the Safe COVID-19 vaccines for Europeans webpage, where you can also see which vaccines are currently under evaluation by EMA or are being developed. The Commission reached several Advance Purchase Agreements with vaccine developers and secured enough vaccine doses to vaccinate all EU citizens. The EU seeks to ensure that only vaccines for COVID-19 that meet the EU’s high standards for safety and efficacy are made available to the public. Worldwide, they save at least 2-3 million lives each year – and many more from crippling and lifelong illnesses. Vaccinations are one of the greatest successes in public health.
